Q. Are CIBRIO Hummus dips certified as organic? A. Whenever possible, we try and source ingredients that are local and certified as organic. We believe our customers appreciate this extra effort to create a line of healthier, good-for-you products that help you live and eat well. While our Hummus dips are certified organic, our Bean spreads are not. (But we're working on that.) Q. Where can I purchase CIBRIO dips and spreads? A. You often find the dips spreads in the refrigerated deli section of select Canadian grocery stores and retailers. Q. Are CIBRIO dips and spreads gluten free? A. Yes, both the bean spreads and hummus dips are gluten free and wheat free, so it's an ideal snack for someone who is a celiac or sensitive to gluten. Our dips and spreads are also vegan-friendly too. Q. What is tahini? A. One of the ingredients that make CIBRIO's Tuscan Bean Spreads taste so good is tahini, a ground paste made from sesame seeds. The seeds are toasted, then ground to produce their oily paste. There are two types of tahini, light and dark, and the light ivory version is considered to have both the best flavor and texture. Sesame seeds are rich in minerals such as calcium, zinc and manganese. They also contain useful quantities of some B group vitamins including thiamin and B6, and are a useful source of vegetable protein. Q. What are Kalamata olives? CIBRIO's Kalamata Olive Spread blends hearty Kalamata and green olives in this rich and creamy white bean spread. Kalamata is a region in Greece, famous for its production of olives and olive oils. The Kalamata olive is often known as the Greek olive, and is distinct in taste and appearance from most green and black olives. Many believe the sweet taste and rich flavour of Kalamata olives is superlative to other varieties. Q. What's the difference between a black olive and a green olive? A. The only difference is ripeness, as the colour of the olive corresponds to the ripeness of the fruit when picked. Green olives are picked before ripening, and black olives are picked while ripe. Generally, green olives are denser and firmer than black olives. Q. What the refrigerated shelf-life for CIBRIO dips and spreads? A. You can safely and happily store CIBRIO dips and spreads in a refrigerator for about two months. However, it's been our observation that once opened, these tasty dips and spreads usually disappear quite fast. |
